살아있기 위한 가장 근원적인 물리적 행위인 “숨”,
하지만 우리는 그 “숨” 의 행위를 인식하지 못하고 망각한 채 살아갑니다.
사회가 하나의 유기체라면 그 속에서 매일을 살아가는 개인은 그 사회를 기능하고
성장하게 하는 들숨과 날숨입니다.
다양한 숨을 찾아가는 작가의 예술 행위 속에서 창작자로서 살아가는
나의 존재 또한 확인하고자 합니다.

“우리의 삶은 어떻게 기억되는가”
이번 전시는 동시대를 살아가는 다양한 삶의 궤적을 찾아 시각 언어로 풀어 내는 최원규의 “숨” 프로젝트의 연장선상에 있는 프로젝트이다.
대구 예술 발전소의 “대구 리서치 프로젝트” 로 선정되어 2021년 4월부터 이어온 이 프로젝트는 대구의 과거와 현재를 이어 살아가고 있는 시민들의 삶을 추적하고 각각의 시간이 담겨 있는 오브제를 수집하여 설치미술의 형태로 선보인다.
대구 예술 발전소 주 전시장에서 선보일 전시의 타이틀은 [Oblivion: Imprinted – 망각의 각인]으로
“망각”될 역사와 “망각”되어지고 있는 주변의 삶에 대해 이야기한다.
현재의 대구를 만든 중, 장년층의 역사를 인터뷰하는 것을 시작으로 그들의 생활 공간에서 수집한 바닥재에 각각의 역사를 각인 함으로서 가까운 미래에 사라질 역사를 기억하고자 하는 [Oblivion; Imprinted-망각의 각인], 누군가의 현재를 비추었던 거울을 수집하여 프로젝션을 통해 존재의 메시지를 투영하는 [Oblivion; reflected-망각의 투영]는 서로 독립된 작업으로 보이나 과거와 현재를 관통하는 엄연히 ‘존재하는 삶’ 대한 이야기로 연결되어 있다.
매일을 스쳐지나는 주변의 삶들, 그러나 드러나지 않아 인지하지 못하거나 애써 외면하려 하는 주변부의 삶을 기억 함으로서 다시, 삶의 의미에 대해 이야기하고자 한다.
이것은 곧 “나의 삶은 어떻게 기억되고자 하는가? 에 대한 이야기이기도 하다.
“나”는 “우리” 안의 “나”이며, “우리”의 존재를 잊는 순간 “나”의 존재도 희미해진다.
"Breath", the most fundamental physical activity to be alive.
However, we live without recognizing the act of "breath" and forgetting it.
If society is an organism, the individual who lives every day in it is an inhalation and exhalation
that functions and grows that society.
I would also like to confirm my existence as a creator in the artistic activities of seeking various breaths.

"How can our lives be remembered?"
This exhibition is an extension of Choi Won-gyu's "Breath" project, which finds various life trajectories living in the contemporary era and unravels them in visual language.
The project, which has been selected as the "Daegu Research Project" by the [Daegu Art factory] and has been since April 2021, tracks the lives of citizens living in Daegu's past and present, collects objects containing each time, and presents them in the form of installation art.
The exhibition will be presented at the main exhibition hall of the [Daegu Art factory] in January 2022. And The title of the exhibition is [Oblivion: Imprinted ] talking about the history to be "forgotten" and the lives around it.
Starting with interviewing the history of middle-aged and elderly people, making Daegu today [Oblivion; Imprinted] to remember history that will disappear in the near future by imprinting each history on floor materials collected in their living spaces, and projecting a mirror that reflects someone's present.
I would like to talk about the meaning of life again by remembering the lives around me that pass by every day, but those around me who are not aware of it or try to ignore it.
This means, "How does my life want to be remembered?" It is also a story about.
"I" is "me" in "we", and the moment we forget the existence of "we", the existence of "me" also fades
